i’m really not an web dev person.
in fact, i pretty much dislike it: modern web dev revolves using a billion frameworks, maximizing javascript and turning everything into something way bigger than it should!
don’t get me wrong, i also really think very beautiful sites are something to praise, but recently everything is just too bloated.
DISCLAMER: i don’t have anything against web developers. The thing is: this is really not for me.
the idea that motivates this site existence is that i really like the old model. i prefer the simplicity, the lightfulness and the abcence of pop ups to close. before facebook, the internet was a whole different thing. people used to have their own pages and content. it was so sparce that you could spent a lot of time digging into page after page, each with its own personality and kirks. i really think that something was lost when three or four companies condensed all the content inside their servers.
less is more. i quit all social media since 2018 and kept this way for some years. this made me free to consume things in a different way. i’ve got used to browse and read content from independent people in their own websites, and that was great. got used to read blogs, news pages and interact with more diversity – since now i am not being guided by one or two algorithms. and this is great, but i missed having ‘my voice’ being heard. IM makes possible to talk, but the concept of publishing your own ramblings about anything is much harder. many friends of mine just vanished from my eyes in this process and, i confess, i’ve even forgot about many. but i don’t really miss their presences, i miss the easyness in just sharing stuff.
i’m comfortable with losing touch. the way i see, people come and go and it’s just natural to stop seeing some, as is also natural to regain contact years later. but it’s hard to not ‘contribute’ with your own ideas to anything. keeping it to yourself is okay, but exposing your thoughts, in my opinion, makes you more consistent, as you need to confront and incoporate conflictant perspectives and beliefs.
so i decided to come back, but this time in my own way. i’m currently inspiring my path in the idea of POSSE: Publish (on your) Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere. don’t really going to go back to major social media platforms, but i got a mastodon profile and i think that, along with this page, is enough for now.
